Brennen Phillips

Brennen Patrick Phillips, 26, of Rock Cave, WV, passed away June 25, 2022, following a motor vehicle accident. Brennen was born March 16, 1996, at St Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg, WV. He was the son of Darren L. Phillips (Amy) of Washington and Tera M. Cutright (David) of Rock Cave. Brennen was a 2014 graduate of Parkersburg South High School. He was employed at Atlas Group LLC of Buckhannon, WV. Prior to moving to Rock Cave, Brennen had attended the Lubeck Community Baptist Church. Brennen loved hunting, fishing, ATV riding and living in the country.

Allegheny Arts Calendar for June 29 – July 4th, 2022

Here are some of the art and cultural events happening in our area this week. First Friday, July 1st at the Discovery Junction in downtown Marlinton offers fun and activities for children of all ages and adults too! The Jesse Milnes band will provide a musical back drop with music that’s a mix of county and old-time with a little rock and roll. Roy Moose will have a live demonstration of snakes native to WV. Marlinton UMC and Pocahontas County libraries will have various hands-on crafts for the kiddies and artist Peggy Owens will demonstrate her unique painting and jewelry making skills. The event is at the outdoor pavilion next to the Opera House Friday from 5 to 8pm.

Shirley Ann (Sutton) Tracy

Shirley Ann (Sutton) Tracy, 85, of Mt. Lookout, formerly of Cowen, passed away on June 25, 2022 at Stonerise Rainelle. She was born June 20, 1937 in Millcreek, WV to the late Ronal and Edith (Tyler) Sutton. Shirley was married to Charles Arlen Tracy (deceased) and was a long time resident of Cowen where she retired from the Cowen Public Service District. Shirley was preceded in death by her brother Ronnie Sutton of Bowie, MD and sister Carolyn Haddix of Dailey, WV. She is survived by sisters Betty and Jimmy (deceased) Waybright and Jeanie and Fred Sparks, both of Cowen, and three sons: Dr. Charles Alan & Kathryn Tracy, Mark & AnnaMary Tracy, and Paul & Glenda Tracy. Shirley celebrated and adored her eight grandchildren: Kelley (Whoolery), Ian, Joshua, Daryn (Moore), Tony, Erin (Hufstetler) and honorarily Alex and Gabe Garland. Shirley was known as “Granny” to her four great grandchildren: Garrett, Carson, and Jonah Whoolery and Lucas Hufstetler. She is also survived by many friends and extended family who will mourn her passing. Graveside services will be conducted privately for the family at a future date.
