One dead, seven injured after three-vehicle incident near Ottawa

BLANCHARD TOWNSHIP — One person died and seven people were injured following a three-vehicle incident that sent one vehicle airborne Sunday evening east of Ottawa. Thomas Sproles, 36, of Stryker, died at the scene of the accident on U.S. 224 in Putnam County, according to a press release from the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Lima man takes plea deal to reduced charge of discharging a gun into a home

A Lima man accused of shooting into a home takes a plea deal for a reduced charge. 23-year-old Dalentino Lacey pleaded guilty to attempted improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation. As part of the plea deal, the charge was reduced to attempted and a firearm specification was dropped which would have guaranteed prison time. Back in spring, Lacey was arguing with a woman and during the fight, he pulled a gun out and fired into the door of her home. The judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation, Lacey could get prison time, but that will be decided in August.

Owsley catches largest verified flathead from Indian Lake

Chad Owsley, the self-described captain of “Fish and Fun,” has a new moniker these days. He now is known as the “Flathead King of Indian Lake” after he caught the biggest flathead catfish to be documented officially coming out of Indian Lake during any tournament. His monster weighed in at 42.87 pounds.
