2 from Central Iowa arrested on warrants in Creston

(Creston, Iowa) – The Creston Police Department reports two people were arrested over the weekend on separate warrants. Authorities say at around 11:45-p.m. Friday, 33-year-old Cassi Mae Bird, of Des Moines, was arrested on two warrants at a motel on Laurel Street. First was a Des Moines Police Department warrant for Domestic Abuse Assault. The second warrant was for a Parole Violation. Bird was transported to the Adams County Jail, were she was being held without bond until an initial appearance on the first warrants, and no bond on the second. She was also being held pending extradition to the Polk County Jail.

Drivers from all across the country compete at Elko Speedway

Drivers from as far as California and Florida came to Elko Speedway June 25 to race in the Automobile Racing Club of America Menards 250. It was the biggest event of the season so far at the New Market track, with Sammy Smith of Johnston, Iowa, winning while Jesse Love of Menio Park, California, came in second.

Creston Police Report

(Creston) The Creston Police Department arrested two people on warrants. Cassi Mae Bird, 33, of Des Moines was arrested Friday evening at 800 Laurel Street on two warrants. Bird had one warrant through Des Moines Police for Domestic Abuse Assault. That warrant had no bond until Bird has an initial appearance. The second warrant was a Parole Violation for the original charge Habitual Offender, with no bond. Bird was transported to the Adams County Jail awaiting to be extradited to Polk County Jail.

Bedford woman arrested on felony drug charges

(Bedford, Iowa) – The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, Saturday said that on Friday, June 24, 2022, Deputies were requested by the Iowa Department of Human Services to come to a residence in the 800 block of State Street, in Bedford. In the home, Deputies and Agents with DHS located in plain view, drug paraphernalia. Deputies with the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office executed a follow-up search warrant at the residence. Subsequent to the search warrant, 33-year-old Ashley Russell, of Bedford, was taken into custody and charged with felon in possession of a firearm and/or ammunition, possession of a controlled substance- marijuana, possession of controlled substance- methamphetamine, possession of prescription medicines and child endangerment.

Montgomery County accident injures 1

(Red Oak) -- A Corning man was injured in a one-vehicle accident in Montgomery County late Wednesday morning. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says the accident occurred on 110th Street just east of S Avenue at around 11:30 a.m. Authorities say a 2007 Chevy Tahoe driven by 63-year-old Timothy Cooney was eastbound on 110th Street when the driver reportedly fell asleep. Cooney's vehicle exited the right side of the roadway, struck and sign and continued east. The vehicle then entered the river, coming to rest on the east embankment.

(Montgomery Co.) A Corning man was injured in a single-vehicle accident in Montgomery County this (Wednesday) morning. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says 63-year-old Timothy Cooney was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on 110th Street, just east of S Avenue, when he fell asleep and went off the roadway to the right. The Tahoe struck a sign and continued east, went into the river, coming to rest on the east embankment.

CRESTON, IA – Officers with the Creston Police Department have issued a missing persons alert for a 30-year old male last seen in the Creston area around June 12th. Garrett Ray Woodhull is described as 6 foot 5 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds and of American Indian ethnicity. He has brown hair and brown eyes. The Iowa Missing Person Information Clearinghouse describes Woodhull as having a physical or mental disability.
