Breaking records with Sunday's candy dash

VINTON – After a year of planning, visitors to Sunday night’s race this weekend at the Benton County Speedway ‘The Bullring’ will be witness to a new world’s record. The ‘World’s Largest Candy Dash’ is being held at the Benton County Fairgrounds. “This will be largest candy dash at a dirt track,” Christine Rublack, dash organizer, said earlier this week. “I’m expecting to have over 1900 pounds of candy which will be dumped on the track for the world’s largest candy dash at a dirt race track.

Historic Preservation Commission to host Flea Market in Shellsburg

The Benton County Historic Preservation Commission will host their 1St Annual Flea Market this Saturday, June 12th at the Shellsburg City Park from 7am to 3pm. It will feature every facet of a traditional flea market. As an added bonus, the Beast and Bird, a local food truck, will also be at the park, serving lunch from 11am to 2pm. “There will be something here for everyone” comments Edwon Yedlik, a Benton County Preservation Commissioner.

Benton County Disaster Recovery Coalition Continues Responding to Derecho Damage

Benton County Disaster Recovery Coalition continues to meet each weekly to address recovery challenges from the August 10, 2020 derecho, one of the worst storms in United States history. Olson races to 50th Bullring win

VINTON, Iowa — Just three weeks shy of the 16th anniversary of his first feature win, Tony Olson celebrated another milestone at the Benton County Speedway Bullring. Olson, who earned his first win in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company on May 30, 2005, parked his #T23 in victory lane in Vinton for the 50th time Sunday night.
