Benson County Sheriff seeking information on vandalism at Lebanon Cemetery

BENSON COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The Benson County Sheriff Office is seeking information from anyone in the community who may have any knowledge on the vandalism that took place over the weekend at the Lebanon Cemetery. This cemetery is located approximately five miles east and four miles south of Leeds, or three miles north of the village of Brinsmade. The department posted photos of 8 gravestones that had been destroyed.

Overcoming injuries, inexperience critical to 2022 success for Benson County Track & Field

BENSON COUNTY – Benson County Track & Field for both boys’ and girls’ teams can be best summarized with one word. Well, three, actually: youth, experience and health. Such has been the overall theme for the teams through their opening two meets this season. During the Class B High School Indoor Meet on March 26, the boys’ team finished tied for ninth place out of 20 teams (18 total points with LaMoure-Litchville/Marion). Meanwhile, the girls’ team finished fifth out of 17 teams (48 total points).

Semi driver escapes serious injury in collision with freight train

LEEDS, N.D. (KFGO) – A close call in northeastern North Dakota when a BNSF freight train was struck by a semi at a crossing. Benson County Sheriff Ethan Rode says the semi-driver, from Pennsylvania, failed to yield and was hit broadside on the passenger side. He was treated for minor injuries at the hospital in Devils Lake. The crash occurred at about 12:30 p.m. Monday.
