COLFAX, Wash. - A two-year-old girl was found deceased in a out-of-use swimming pool Tuesday evening just outside of Endicott, according to local authorities. Whitman County authorities said the girl was reportedly outside playing with siblings when she went missing. She was found around 15 minutes later, unresponsive in about two feet of residual standing water in the older swimming pool.

Grain Train Derails West of LaCrosse

LA CROSSE, WA - Crews are working to cleanup a train derailment in Whitman County that involved grain cars. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation which owns the rail line, the derailment occurred on Saturday West of LaCrosse. WSDOT officials say the Union Pacific train was hauling grain when 10 cars derailed. The Federal Railroad Administration is investigating the cause of the derailment. The derailment occurred on a section of the line that runs along State Route 26.

Trunnions are pivots that allow the spillway gates to open and close and are integral to the operation of a dam’s spillway gates, which in turn is integral to the safe operation of a dam.

2-year-old girl dies after being found unresponsive in swimming pool

ENDICOTT, Wash. — A 2-year-old female was pronounced dead Tuesday after she drowned at a residence outside Endicott in eastern Washington state. The girl was playing outside with her siblings when she went missing, according to a Whitman County Sheriff’s Office news release. About 15 minutes later, the girl was discovered in an unused concrete swimming pool in fewer than 2 feet of residual standing water. She was unresponsive. Emergency responders and family members attempted lifesaving measures at the residence and during transport to Whitman County Hospital. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The Whitman County Coroner will review the incident to determine the exact cause and manner of death. Whitman County deputies and emergency crews from the Colfax and Endicott fire departments responded to the incident.
