Dr. Mona Saleh Retires From ICC

After 18 years of service to the Independence Community College Math and Science Division, Dr. Mona Saleh will retire at the end of the current academic year. Saleh was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. In 1986, she completed her bachelor's and master's degree in Math and Physics from the University of Alexandria, Egypt. She was then selected and received a Doctoral Scholarship from the University of Kaiserslautern in Kaiserslautern, Germany, where she earned her doctorate in Physics. While in Germany, Dr. Saleh met her now-husband, Richard.

Buffaloes win 6A Regional Golf qualifying for State

Andover, Kan (WesternKansasNews.Com) – The Garden City Buffaloes Golf team had a stellar day Monday in Andover. The Buffalo golfers won the 6A Regional with a 298 score. Freshman Maddix Shook tied for medalist honors with a 68. Theo Juhl placed third at 70. Jack Koksal finished eighth at 79 and Aaron Allen at 81 placing four Buffaloes in the top ten.

Bulldogs Are Once Again Class 4A Champs

Congratulations to the Independence Bulldog Tennis team for capturing the 4A State Championship for the 2nd year in a row. The team was led by a championship performance from Brecken Bertie and Camdon Julian in the doubles bracket at T.H. Vaughn tennis courts in Winfield Saturday. Additionally, Kale Groff was runner-up in the singles bracket. This is the 5th state title in the IHS boys tennis program history.

Catch A Tagged Fish And You Win

Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks announced on Saturday the Lakes that are involved in the 2022 Great Kansas Fishing Derby. Anglers with a valid license can catch fish in these lakes and win prizes. Locally the lakes stocked with tagged fish are Montgomery State Fishing lake, Yates Center Resivour, and Chanute's Santa Fe Lake. Wardens stocked these lakes and many more throughout Kansas with fish that wear a specialized tag.
