A Beloit man is accused of peppering mobile homes with no fewer than 75 bullets in a Town of Rock trailer park in May in a homicide attempt. Marcus S. C. Man shot by police outside Hard Rock Casino Rockford dies of injuries

Bradley Thompkins, 51, was shot by officers responding to a call of a man with a gun in the parking lot of the casino, 610 N. Bell School Road. Body camera and dashboard camera footage of the shooting released by the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department and Rockford Police Department showed the man holding the gun to his own head and then firing into the air before pointing the weapon at police officers.

Downtown Rockford shop Midwest Rustic to stay open after raising $13,000 in 15 days

ROCKFORD — A downtown business in Rockford is keeping its doors open after meeting its fundraising goal. Brianna Zahn, owner of the Midwest Rustic, announced Thursday she raised $13,029.43 between private donations and a GoFundMe page. Zahn announced the pending closure of her business on June 12, citing mounting debt brought on by bad weather and increasing costs.
