Royce L. Shaffstall was born in Salina, KS to parents Raymond R. Shaffstall and Betty (Budd) Shaffstall on December 4, 1951 and moved to Lincoln, KS in the early spring of 1952. Royce graduated from Lincoln High School, class of 1970. Prior to graduating, he received his Eagle Scout award of which he was very proud.

USD 333 board approves filling new positions

The hiring of staff members to fill two newly created positions was approved by the Unified School District 333 board of education during its regular meeting on Monday night. Kevin Muff, a former Cloud County Community College head men’s basketball coach, was hired as the school district’s dean of student improvement and will also teach criminal justice at Concordia High School.

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Funding Opportunities Event Planned

A round table discussion focused on the federally approved Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and its potential funding opportunities for North Central Kansas has been announced. According to the organization, the meeting will be August 16 in Salina at the Visit Salina Annex located at 120 W. Ash Street from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Advance registration is required by August 12. Sister Rose Beatrice Dreiling

Sister Rose Beatrice Dreiling died August 8, 2022, at Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, Kansas. She was 92 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 77 years. She was born in Victoria, Kan., on May 26, 1930, to Peter and Clara Bollig Dreiling, the seventh of ten children, and was baptized Cecelia Bernita. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, Kan., on February 10, 1945. On August 15, 1945, Cecelia received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Rose Beatrice. She pronounced first vows on August 15, 1946, and final vows on May 26, 1950.
