A drunken driver was charged with vehicular assault for causing a serious crash in Mercer County, authorities said. Romulo Alfredo Menchu Aguilar, of Millstone, was driving a white Chevrolet Colorado southbound on Old Trenton Road near Pennington Drive in West Windsor when he veered into the path of a black 2022 Genesis G70 heading northbound on Old Trenton Road just after 10:30 p.m. on Friday, June 17, local police said in a release on Friday, June 24.

Sharks have drawn increasingly closer to land in recent years, but none too many Staten Islanders expect to cross paths with one along the South Shore. Yet that’s exactly what happened to local fisherman Damean Farrell, an Eltingville resident who reeled in a near-four-foot shark off the shore of Oakwood Beach last week. The shark, which Farrell measured at 43 inches, is believed to be a sand tiger shark -- a species which can grow upwards of 10-feet and reach nearly 500 pounds in some regions.

Millstone resident charged with DWI following head-on collision in West Windsor

A Millstone resident has been charged with driving while intoxicated following a head-on collision on Trenton Road, according to the West Windsor Police Department. The crash was reported at 10:32 p.m. on June 17. The Millstone resident, in a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, was traveling south on Old Trenton Road, when he allegedly crossed the centerline and struck a Genesis G70 sedan, driven by a Manalapan resident, in the northbound lane, police said.
