UW-Madison’s new chancellor will make $130,000 more than predecessor

(The Center Square) – The new chancellor at UW-Madison will take-home three-quarters-of-a million-dollars a year. The university on Monday announced that Dr. Jennifer Mnookin, who is currently dean of the School of Law and Ralph and Shirley Shapiro professor of law at the University of California, Los Angeles, will take over as chancellor for the out-going Rebecca Blank.

Semi Blown Off Road in Chippewa County

A Wisconsin man was injured Thursday night in a Chippewa County accident north of Watson on Highway 59. The wind blew a semi driven by 64 year old James Earl West of Durand, Wisconsin off the road, where it rolled. West was taken to Montevideo Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Big Stone County Damage Report

The damage report from Thursday’s storm from Big Stone County includes the collapse of a number of structures, machine sheds and grain bins, numerous broken power line poles and damaged substations. Many Big Stone County residents remain without power. A semi rolled over on Highway 12 about 11 miles east of Ortonville. No injuries were reported. Area lakes have seen a significant increase in lake levels. Lakeshore owners are asked to be vigilant to the increase in comparison to the height of their docks and lifts.

The Benson-KMS track and field teams competed at the Montevideo Invitational last Tuesday night. Canby-Minneota dominated the girls meet, winning by almost double the points of runner-up Morris Area, while Morris earned the team title in the boys meet, winning by 41.5 points over runner-up Montevideo.
