A new independent bookstore is set to open in downtown State College in August. The Squirrel and Acorn Bookshop is said to be a place “where stories are discovered and created, voices heard and celebrated, and where imagination and a bit of whimsy are constant companions during your visit,” according to its Facebook page.

Heavy Truck Traffic Expected to Cause Delays, Noise Early Thursday Morning on West College Avenue

A concrete pour for a new apartment building under construction in Ferguson Township is expected to cause traffic delays and noise disturbance early Thursday morning. About 30 to 45 concrete trucks will be traveling and operating from 3 to 7 a.m. in the area of the West College Avenue and South Buckhout Street intersection, where the six-story mixed-use building Aspen West End is under construction at 914 W.
