Stanley Police K9 gets protective vest

STANLEY, N.D. (KMOT) – A four-legged officer in western North Dakota has received some protection for when he heads out to fight crime. The Stanley Police Department received a donated protective vest for its K9 officer Dusty. He’s a two-year-old German Shepherd who joined the force last September.

Morton County deputies take man into custody following high-speed chase

MORTON COUNTY, N.D. (KFYR) - A New Town man has been arrested after deputies say he led them on a high-speed chase in Mandan Wednesday. Morton County Sheriff’s deputies say they saw 40-year-old Dustin Ward driving at a high rate of speed along Expressway near the BNSF bridge. They say as they tried to pull him over, he fled at speeds of around 110 miles per hour. Deputies say they stopped pursuing due to public safety but located Ward a short time later at the Flying J truck stop.

INSTEM Academy sessions conclude for summer

The Valley City State University Great Plains STEM Education Center (GPSEC) hosted students on campus for INSTEM Academy sessions June 5-9 and June 19-23. A total of 38 students from New Town Public Schools and Eight Mile School District in Trenton, N.D. participated in a wide variety of STEM classroom and lab experiences taught by VCSU faculty. Students also took field trips to area STEM-related businesses including the Red River Zoo, Aldevron, Doosan-Bobcat and John Deere Seeding Group.

— — — A Sunday night crash involving two motorcycles in Fargo sent one biker to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. The North Dakota Patrol reports both motorcycles were heading south of South University Drive when one lost control throwing the rider to the ground.
