First Baptist Awards Annette Rogers Memorial Scholarships

On April 24, 2022 First Baptist Church in Hope celebrated their high school graduating seniors. Each year, a student is awarded the Annette Rogers Memorial Scholarship. Annette Rogers was a pivotal, lifelong member of First Baptist Church and her family carries on her legacy each year by awarding this scholarship. Students must apply to be considered and adhere to the criteria set by the scholarship committee. This year, because of their lifelong membership and contribution to FBC, Hunter Mathis and Carlie Beck were each awarded a $500 scholarship to further their education. An additional scholarship for $500 was awarded to Bradley Kellar. Mathis plans to attend Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Beck to SAU in Magnolia, and Kellar to Henderson State in Arkadelphia.

Prescott High awards diplomas to 64

Prescott High School’s 2022 commencement drew enough spectators to overflow the bleachers and restrict latecomers to standing room only at the school’s gymnasium. Starting promptly at 3 p.m. Sunday, the ceremony began with the processional march proceeding to the tune of Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance,” then a prayer by Kiesha Kyrie Johnson, one of five Senior Highest Honors graduates-to-be.

Electrical Fire at 311 North Washington

Hope firemen and Hope Police responded to an electrical fire at 311 North Washington in Hope Monday about 5:45pm. The homeowner said they had recently come back from an errand and flipped on the air conditioning. They then smelled smoke and called the police. It appeared the damage was limited to the outside wall. The breaker box appeared completely destroyed.

Hope High graduates 152 seniors in Friday night outdoor commencement

The Hope High Class of 2022 was graduated earlier tonight in a ceremony that occurred on the field of Hammonds Stadium under bright sun and few clouds. After the Hope High band played the gowned graduates-to-be to their seats with the trio of Edward Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No.1, the school’s principal Donald Patton welcomed them and an audience that easily filled the west bleachers and spilled over into the band stand, along the fences and over to the east bleachers.

Camden police search for wanted suspect, considered armed and dangerous

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Investigators with the Camden Police Department are asking for the public's help in finding a man in connection to a Monday incident. 32-year-old John Junior Hampton is wanted on two counts of a terroristic act, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of firearms by certain persons prohibited.
