Two Raids in Beaver Falls On Wednesday Net Four Arrest, Three From Beaver Falls

Beaver Falls Police, New Brighton Police and the PA Office of the Attorney General conducted two separate narcotics investigations Wednesday morning, June 16, 2021 that led to the execution of search warrants at two Beaver Falls locations.

Structural Fire Behind Beaver Tire in Vanport Twp. Currently Ongoing

Story and photos by Beaver County Radio Program/News Director Frank Sparks. (Vanport Twp., Pa.) Fire Crews were called to the scene of a structural fire in Vanport Twp. early this morning. Beaver County 911 is reporting that crews were called to the scene at 5:15 AM this morning. Beaver County Radio’s Frank Sparks was in the area and heard loud booming noises and when he went outside in Bridgewater he heard the fire whistles going off and saw the smoke pouring into the air in the area of the Beaver Cemetery. Sparks went to the area to investigate and found what a dispatcher explains as a plastic manufacturer right behind Beaver Tire fully engulfed in flames. The Fire is in between Georgetown Lane and Tuscarawas Road in Vanport Twp.. Crews were still on the scene as of 6:30 AM and are asking everyone to avoid the area if possible. A 911 dispatcher stated that she had to call a Center Police officer to the area of Texas Roadhouse because the smoke from the fire was so thick and black that someone called 911 thinking that a business in that area was on fire. Large fire destroys structure in Beaver County

VANPORT, Pa. — A large fire destroyed a structure in Vanport, Beaver County, on Thursday morning. The fire was reported in the area of Meyers Tires on Tuscarawas Road. Sky 4 was over the scene as smoke billowed from the destroyed structure. It was initially unclear what the structure was.

Real estate taxes will be 261.5 mills, representing a 3.5 mill increase, and 41.5 mills on building, which represents a 1 mill increase.District Business manager/treasurer Debbie Engleman said expenditures for the year had to be cut to balance the budget.

Chippewa Board of Supervisors Hold Meeting

(Story by Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Curtis Walsh) (Chippewa Township, PA) The Chippewa Township Board of Supervisors held their second meeting of June tonight. The board approved the reappointment of Dan Olayer to the Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals. The Board went on to make an amendment to Resolution 2021-5, which will raise the fee for door to door solicitors. The fee was raised from $25.00 to $50.00 per day. This amendment was followed by another, to the Chippewa Code of Ordinances Part 1 – 101. The additional amendment will change language to the existing ordinance which has been in place since 1984, and will allow residents to deny solicitors by placing no soliciting signs on their property if they choose to do so. The Police department reported 403 complaints handled and 199 calls received during May and the board approved their payment of bills at a total of $128,223.80.

Beaver County COVID-19 vaccine tracker: 39% of people fully vaccinated

Some 39% of people living in Beaver County are fully vaccinated as of June 15, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers someone fully vaccinated two weeks after they've been given a single-dose shot (Johnson & Johnson) or a second shot (either Pfizer or Moderna).

Gas impact fee revenue declines in Pennsylvania; Beaver County to see $425K

Pennsylvania’s impact fee on natural gas producers will add more than $146 million to local and state government this year, including nearly $425,000 to Beaver County. The state Public Utility Commission on Monday announced counties and municipalities directly touched by drilling will receive a total of $71.5 million for the 2020 reporting year, with another $51 million transferred to the Marcellus Legacy Fund to support environmental, highway, water and sewer projects statewide. The remaining $23.8 million will be distributed to state agencies.

The Beaver Bobcats take the softball State Title!

Beaver met with Tunkhannok in State College for todays softball state championship game. Beaver scored their first run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. The next couple of innings were scoreless until Beaver scored again in the fifth. The Bobcats had a 3-0 lead during the top of the sixth until Tunkhannok scored a run in the bottom to bring it to 3-1 going into the seventh. Beaver scored one more run in the seventh but allowed Tunkhannok to get three runs in to tie the game at 4 and take it into extra innings. The eighth inning went scoreless. Beaver got a run during the top of the ninth. While Beaver led 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth, Tunkhannok has two runners on base and Beaver managed a double play to seal the game at 5-4.
