Contact: Viviana Lopez, Adoption and Marketing Coordinator. Beaumont Animal Care Officers Seize Severely Emaciated Dachshund on Sullivan St. in Beaumont’s South End. Yesterday, May 18th, 2022, Beaumont Animal Care officers served a civil seizure warrant at 4613 Sullivan St. in Beaumont’s south end, in order to gain custody of a severely malnourished dachshund located at this residence. Two other dogs that belonged to the same owner were also seized.

On Monday, April 4, 2022, Kelly High School will be hosting a Shattered Dreams Program outlining the dangers of drinking and driving. Traffic Collisions, many involving drugs and alcohol, are the leading cause of serious injuries and death of Texans aged 15 – 19. There will be a mock accident staged in front of the high school at 10:00 am. Involved in the accident will be one fatality, one critically injured (will be transported by Air-Rescue), 3 injured that will be transported by Acadian Ambulance Service and one driver will be placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated, and Intoxication Manslaughter.

Beaumont Animal Care Preps Community for Critter Season. The days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer, which means critter season is right around the corner. Beaumont Animal Care sees a variety of wildlife ranging from squirrels, possums, birds, etc. every day. While we love seeing wildlife, it is important not to disturb them.
On Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 7:22 pm, Beaumont Police responded to a major crash in the 3500 block of North Major drive. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of a Ford SUV was traveling southbound when he struck another vehicle then lost control. His vehicle flipped several times before striking a utility pole and coming to rest in a ditch on the east side of the roadway. Beaumont Fire and EMS responded to the scene and removed the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle and transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The occupants of the other vehicle had minor injuries. The deceased victim was identified as Reed Nichols, a 76 year old Beaumont resident. The investigation is on-going.
BPD Detectives have obtained a second Murder Warrant for the March 12, 2022 Homicide of Juan Salazar that occurred at Goliad and Wall Streets. Terry Antonio Johnson III, a 20 year old Beaumont resident is currently in the Jefferson County Jail on the charge of Murder for the April 15th Homicide that occurred in Lumberton. The additional Murder charge was added today and bond was set at $1,000,000 by Judge Collins.

On Wednesday February 16, 2022 at 4:40 a.m., Officers responded to 4215 N Major Dr, Westend Lodge, in reference to subjects stealing catalytic converters. The caller observed several subjects under and around vehicles in the parking lot and could hear sawing noises. Officers arrived in the area and were able to stop a 2018 white Ford Fusion, with 4 suspects, as it pulled out of one of the gates. Officers located 3 cordless saws and 6 catalytic converters in the vehicle. Investigators with the Auto Theft Task Force (ATTF) were notified and responded.
The Beaumont Public Library System has received the donation of a Portable InfoLoop System from the Aurora Golden Triangle Sertoma Club. The systems are used to connect patrons with hearing aids to a library staff member so that staff can communicate more efficiently. The systems are also capable of assisting those without hearing aids but have a hearing disability. It is also portable which allows expanded service in the libraries.
On Monday, 2/14/2022 at 1:30 p.m., Officers responded to a room at Midtown Inn (1295 N. 11th St #106) in reference to a trespasser with a gun. The caller told dispatchers the trespasser was taking things that didn’t belong to him. Officers located the trespasser in the room and identified him as Gaven Kade Butler, a 20 year old Beaumont man. Butler was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Orange County for possession of a controlled substance. Butler was arrested and officers located a stolen gun in his waistband. Officers observed narcotics and a shotgun in plain view inside the room. Narcotics Investigators were called to the scene to handle the investigation. Investigators seized approximately 61g of meth (X pills), 6 ounces of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and Xanax, as well as the 2 firearms. Butler was interviewed and transported to the Jefferson County jail where he was booked in for his warrant. Possession and firearm charges are pending as well as possible Federal charges.
On Thursday, February 10th 2022, the Beaumont Police Special Assignment Unit (SAU) and Narcotics and Vice Unit, with the assistance of SWAT, K-9, and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a joint Tactical Narcotics Operation(TNO). The focus of the operation was to target drug related crimes at hotels along the IH-10 corridor, including the College and IH- 10 intersection. Multiple undercover buys were made, resulting in a total of 7 arrests as well as the recovery of methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana.
