After the family moved to Klamath Falls, OR, she graduated from KU High School and went to work in the Public Housing Department for the Air Force. She later transferred to work at the Beal Air Force Base Public Housing Department near Marysville, CA, and it was here that she met her husband Ray while square dancing. Ruthmarie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her younger sister Nancy Kucera, her 3 children, Carrie, David (Cindy), and Howard (Kim), 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many other loved ones and friends. Her husband preceded her in death on May 6, 2022, just a few weeks shy of their 63rd wedding anniversary. The both of them together will be dearly missed and we will always carry their memories in our hearts. A graveside service for both Ruthmarie and Ray Hamel will be held at the Dixon Cemetery, 800 S.
