In this week’s Minnesota DNR’s weekly conservation officer reports for the Baudette area of District 1, CO Corey Sura checked anglers fishing on Upper Red Lake, and Lake of the Woods. Sura said fishing was good throughout most of the week on both bodies of water. Enforcement action was taken for overlimits of walleyes, fishing with extra lines and fishing without licenses. Sura also worked as an AIS detail in the Baudette area.

Jerome A. Turgeon, 86, of Baudette, Minn. passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D., with his loving family by his side. Jerome Arthur Turgeon was born April 10, 1936, in Crookston, Minn., the son of Walter W. and Alexine (Bergeron) Turgeon. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. He attended school in Oklee, Minn., and the Northwest School of Agriculture (AC) in Crookston.

It's difficult for Brock Jonassen to think back to his last conversation with his father, Lorne. The devoted 52-year-old, husband, father, and grandfather adored his family.

By the Great Horns of the Owl, it's been a busy week. Spring is busting through the seams, and 11 student reports are hardly enough to contain it! This morning, those fickle technology gods passed over John (for once) and instead visited Heidi with a plague of network connectivity issues. A quick reboot seemed to solve the problem, and the show went on! John showed much more patience with Heidi's technical difficulties than he ever does with his own, but that's a topic for another day (and maybe a therapist). As always, we start off with the northern end of the state and work our way south: let's get to it!
