GBI issues another murder warrant in death of Georgia mother

BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has issued another murder warrant tied to the death of a Georgia woman. Rossana Delgado, of Barrow County, disappeared April 16. Her husband said she was finishing a fare driving for a taxi service when she vanished. She was at Plaza Fiesta off Buford Highway when he last talked to her. She said she was about to drive her client to a house 30 minutes away.

Marietta woman is 8th suspect identified in rideshare driver’s slaying

A woman from Marietta was identified Friday as the eighth suspect in the ongoing and widening investigation into the death of a rideshare driver from Georgia. Maria Katherine Chavez Encarnacion, 28, is wanted on a charge of murder in the slaying of Rossana Delgado, whose body was found April 20 in a mountain cabin in Gilmer County, nearly 100 miles from her Barrow County home.

Barrow Co: no mask requirement for new school year

School officials in Winder say masks will be recommended but not required when the new Barrow County school year begins on August 3. The Elbert County School District becomes the latest in a growing list of school systems in northeast Georgia to say that classes for the new school year will be in-person only, at least for grades K through 8. The virtual option that was available because of the coronavirus pandemic will not be available for the academic year that begins in August in Elbert County. Elbert County’s school superintendent says the Elbert Virtual Academy will be an option for the County’s high school students. Elbert County’s new school year begins August 4.

Barrow to be part of statewide Bible reading July 14
