Sanford Has Had More Ghost Sightings Than Any Other Place in Maine

People who don't live in Maine probably think that the only weird and spooky things happening in this state take place in fictional towns conjured up by the master of horror, Stephen King. In reality, that's simply not the case. There's a lot of space in Maine for a lot of weird stuff to happen. If you believe people's stories, plenty of it has taken place, whether it be countless UFO sightings or, maybe even more chilling, the highest frequency of ghost sightings in the entire United States. And no town or city in Maine has had more ghost sightings over the last 17 years than Sanford.

Give Back NH: The Mayhew Program

This week, we visit Mayhew Island in Bristol to learn more about how the Mayhew Project, a program for at-risk boys, brings new meaning to the phrase "island life." It's been really interesting to move through the program: start as a boy, go and work in the kitchen when I turned 14, help and make food, prep, wash dishes, and then come out as a counselor and be the role model for these boys that I looked up to when I was a boy.

On his first ride since taking a “sabbatical” from his relationship with John and Thady Gosden, Frankie Dettori partnered Lezoo to victory at Newmarket. It became apparent that all was not well with the Dettori and Gosden association on Thursday when the jockey’s name appeared alongside the Ralph Beckett-trained filly in the Maureen Brittain Memorial Empress Fillies’ Stakes, but not the Gosden-trained horses on the same card.
