KATHRYN, N.D. (Valley News Live) - People living by the Clausen Springs Dam near Kathryn were told to evacuate their homes because of rising water levels. Authorities originally thought the dam was breached based off high water flow in the area, however water levels have gone down and officials now say there is no imminent threat to people in the area.

Opening of Lake Ashtabula Campgrounds Delayed Due To Flooding

BARNES CO., N.D. (KVRR) — The opening of the campground facilities at Lake Ashtabula is delayed due to impacts from flooding. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would have opened the campgrounds this past Sunday. But snowpack and flooding conditions are preventing safe access to most of the camping facilities.

Gardening Fun For Students On Earth Day

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (ON THE MOVE) – In celebration of Earth Day, all kindergarten – Grade 6 students in Barnes County received Grab n’ Grow seed planting kits assembled by ON THE MOVE partners and community volunteers. Approximately 839 students from Valley City Public Schools, St. Catherine School, Litchville-Marion Elementary School and Barnes County North received the kits. Students enrolled at Head Start in Valley City also received the gardening kits.

Sheyenne River Crests In Valley City; River Slowly Receding

VALLEY CITY, N.D. ( – The Sheyenne River in Valley City reached a crest of 18.09 feet on Sunday, May 1st. Baldhill dam resource manager Rich Schueneman said outflows out of the dam were cut back to 3,900 cfs on Sunday. He said the inflows coming into Lake Ashtabula will reach 8,000 cfs on Monday, but with five feet of pool storage available in the lake this flood event is manageable.
