Bricks on a Mission program helps raise thousands for hospice

SAULT STE. MARIE — Old Mission Bank has helped raise over $2,000 this year in donations for Hospice of the EUP with the Bricks on a Mission program. In 2012, Old Mission Bank and Hospice of the EUP teamed up to create the program where people can buy bricks through Old Mission Bank and the bricks are added to the 'Friendship Garden' at the hospice home. Each brick is personalized to help commemorate any person who has passed away, whether they stayed at the hospice house or not.

Lake Superior State’s Mucha, Rensselaer’s Dubinsky transfer to Michigan State ahead of ’22-23 season

Michigan State has added graduate student Miroslav Mucha and junior forward Zach Dubinsky to the Spartan hockey roster for the 2022-23 season. Mucha played four years at Lake Superior State and will join the Spartan roster for his fifth year of eligibility as a graduate transfer. He had 35 points (10 goals, 25 assists) in 2021-22 and served as an alternate captain for the Lakers. Over four seasons, he played in more than 100 games with 18 goals and 39 assists for 57 points.

SAULT STE. MARIE — Famous Soo Lock Boat Tours and Sault Historic Sites are teaming up this weekend to bring a fun filled family day to all eastern Upper Peninsula families. For a donation of any size EUP residents can bring their whole families to visit historically significant sites like the Museum Ship Valley Camp, Tower of History, River of History Museum or take a ride on the Famous Soo Lock Boat Tour. On Sunday, May 22, these groups are teaming up to support a local museum and teach people about the historical sites and tour.

Sault girls finish 2nd at regional

MARQUETTE — The Sault High girls finished a close second in a Division I track and field regional Thursday. For a second straight year, Marquette and Sault Ste. Marie were the leading girls teams at the regional, but the Redettes took first against by single digits. Marquette won with 64 points, while the Blue Devils were second with 59. Escanaba took third with 42, followed by Gladstone 18 and Menominee 4.
