Police: Man who shot woman arrested in Pocatello

A man has been arrested in Pocatello for shooting a woman on the Fort Hall Reservation, police said. Jose Carlos Acosta, a Shosone-Bannock tribal member who resides in Pocatello, was arrested in an alley near his home on the 100 block of Taft Avenue in Pocatello around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

Interstate 15/86 interchange to be rebuilt

The Idaho Transportation Department has scheduled improvements for the I-86 / I-15 System Interchange in the Pocatello/Chubbuck metropolitan area. ITD is currently in the design phase of the project. The project will involve roadway, ramp and bridge upgrades at the junction of I-86 and I-15, and building a new separated pedestrian/bicycle path.

Pocatello woman facing drug charge in Bannock County

CHUBBUCK — A 37-year-old Pocatello woman is facing a felony drug charge in Bannock County. Elisa Shoemaker has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to magistrate court records. A hearing that will determine if there is enough evidence to take her case to trial has been set for June 28.

CHUBBUCK — A 27-year-old Pocatello man has been charged with battery on an officer. Justin Espinoza was charged with the felony crime for an incident that allegedly occurred on June 18. A hearing that will determine if there is enough evidence to take his case to trial has been set for June 29, according to Bannock County Magistrate Court records.

The Pocatello Fire Department and North Bannock Fire Department teamed up with Idaho State University’s Continuing Education and Workforce Training to host a Junior Firefighter Camp for youth ages 13 to 18, Friday and Saturday. At the day and a half long camp, which was sponsored by Restore Rite, the more than 20 participants learned about the tips, tricks, and tools of the trade including fire attack, search and rescue operations, emergency medical service response, wildland firefighting, and more.

Local man accused of 12-month theft binge at Home Depot

CHUBBUCK — A Bannock County man has been charged for repeatedly trying to return items to a Home Depot he had not purchased. Michael Wayne Roden, 61, faces a felony grand theft charge after making at least 28 separate trips to Home Depot on Hawthorne Road in Chubbuck. During those trips he allegedly returned items he had selected off the store shelves, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Sandy Woman Killed In Idaho ATV Crash

ARIMO, Idaho – A Sandy woman has died in an ATV crash in Bannock County, Idaho, police said. The incident happened east of Arimo around 4:07 p.m. Thursday. Idaho State Police said 67-year-old Chikay Cole was traveling northbound on Smith Canyon Road on an ATV when she did not make it around a curve. She and the passenger who was with her – Kerry Cole, 67, also of Sandy – were ejected from the ATV.

Authorities searching for 'highly dangerous' suspect in City Creek area

POCATELLO — Authorities are searching the City Creek area for an adult man whom they describe as being "highly dangerous." Police said the man crashed a white sport utility vehicle on a Jeep road west of Clark Street Wednesday afternoon and then fled the scene on foot. One Killed in ATV Crash Near Arimo

ARIMO, Idaho (KLIX)-A Utah woman was killed when she was ejected from an ATV Thursday afternoon near Arimo. According to Idaho State Police, the crash happened at a little after 4 p.m. on South Smith Canyon Road and Pine View Loop in Bannock County. ISP said 67-year-old Chikay Cole, was driving a newer Polaris ATV with passenger Kerry Cole, 67, both of Sandy, Utah when she missed a turn and the two were ejected from the ATV. Both of them had been wearing helmets, but Chikay died at the scene. Kerry was flown to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

Bannock County open burn ban to begin Sunday

POCATELLO — Beginning Sunday, open burns will be banned throughout most of Bannock County. Burning of solid fuels, including wood and paper, within the Wildland-Urban Interface Areas of the county will be put on hold due to the current fire danger, according to a news release tweeted by the Pocatello Fire Department.
