Crash kills 4 near Jolon in South Monterey County

JOLON — Four people were killed in a head-on crash on June 13 near the intersection of Jolon and Mission roads in South Monterey County. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Toyota Corolla and a Honda Civic collided at around 6:20 a.m. after the Corolla crossed the centerline into the southbound lane of Jolon Road, north of Mission Road.

Atwater Man, 31, Dies After Crashing Into Tree Near Auburn

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — An Atwater man was killed after a truck slammed into a tree near Auburn Monday night. The California Highway Patrol says the crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Auburn Folsom Road, near the Lees Lane intersection. (credit: Auburn Police Department) Officers say a pickup truck was heading southbound when, for an unknown reason, the driver veered to the right and went off the roadway. The truck then crashed into a tree and a fence. Medics pronounced the driver dead at the scene. His name has not been released, but officers have identified him as a 31-year-old Atwater resident. Auburn is located roughly 40 miles northeast of Sacramento.

The Los Banos City Council held another special, closed session meeting last night, Tuesday, June 28, 2022, to discuss the vacant position of city manager. Several members of the public voiced their opposition to the recent firing of the city manager by a split 3 – 2 vote with Mayor Tom Faria, Councilwoman Deborah Lewis, and Councilman Refugio Llamas voting yes, and Mayor Pro Tem Kenneth Lambert and Councilman Brett Jones voting against. Over 2,000 illegal fireworks recovered in June, says Merced Police

MERCED, Calif. (FOX26) — Thousands of illegal fireworks are now off the streets of Merced, thanks to the Merced Police Department. According to Merced PD, members of the Disruptive Area Response Team (DART) have recovered over 500 bottle rockets, 1,000 mortars, 100 firecrackers, and 700 roman candles in the month of June. Multiple people have also been arrested in June for trying to sell illegal fireworks online.

Modesto Woman Killed in Car Accident on I-5 Near Grapevine Road. The California Highway Patrol reported a fatal car accident near the Grapevine on the night of Sunday, June 26, 2022. The motor vehicle collision took place shortly after 9:40 p.m. on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in the vicinity of Grapevine Road.
