NEW RICHMOND, WI – Jonathan Davenport added another piece of history to his impressive 2022 resume Saturday night at Cedar Lake Speedway. The Blairsville, GA driver held off Chris Madden in the final 10 laps Saturday at Cedar Lake to win his second consecutive USA Nationals, joining Billy Moyer and Jack Boggs as the only drivers to win the event in back-to-back seasons.

Former NR golf coach Saliny inducted into state hall of fame

Long-time New Richmond High School boys golf coach Jim Saliny has been inducted into the Wisconsin Golf Coaches Hall of Fame. Saliny, who coached the Tigers from 1987 to 2017 was enshrined on June 21 in a ceremony at Lake Arrowhead Golf Club in Wisconsin Rapids. Saliny’s Hall of Fame plaque will join the display of plaques at University Ridge Golf Course, the home of the WIAA state tournaments.

A memorial golf tournament is planned for Thursday, August 11th at the River Falls Golf Club and will benefit Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue. The tournament honors Robert Wing who was a former Pierce County circuit court judge. The tournament is from 6-9pm. A public open house is planned immediately after.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Baltimore pinch-hitter Terrin Vavra hit a tiebreaking RBI double in the eighth inning and the Orioles completed their first season series sweep against Texas with a 6-3 win. Vavra’s two-out hit came after a disputed stolen base for the Orioles. Robinson Chirinos, who had homered an inning earlier, singled him home with his third hit. Ryan McKenna also went deep for the Orioles. They swept all three games in Texas like they did at home last month.
