'Leroy' Kee

Vernon “Leroy” Kee, 86, loving husband and father of three children, died Sept. 17, 2021, in Baker City. There will be no funeral service. Leroy was born on Jan. 2, 1935, at Louisburg, Missouri, to Albert and Laura Campbell Kee. The family moved to Ventura, California when he was two years old. He attended high school and college in Ventura. He excelled in all sports. Leroy received a football scholarship to Cal Poly Tech; however, instead of playing football he enlisted in the United States Army in 1956. Prior to being shipped overseas he married Deanna Sims on Sept. 1, 1956, at Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was stationed in Germany and was joined several months later by Deanna. Together they explored the German countryside, the castles, and the culture.

Born to Joseph Dulaney Moberly and Cora Lois Speelman Moberly June 22, 1947, in Baker City. Claudia attended elementary school in the Oregon towns of; Baker City, Independence, Keating, Umatilla, Union, and Milton-Freewater followed by Butte, Montana, until fifth grade when they moved to Waitsburg, Washington. Claudia graduated from Waitsburg High School in 1965. She spent many summers at the Southern Baptist summer camp on the Clearwater River. While in Waitsburg she was part of the gym club, Christian Association and sang in the school choir.

Jewel "Jo" Manuela Ingram 1932 - 2021

Jewel “Jo“ Manuela Ingram, longtime Sheridan, Oregon, resident and caregiver to all who had the pleasure to know her, passed away September 2, 2021. Jo was born July 1, 1932, in North Powder, Oregon, to Fred Sartaine and Charlotte “Dynamite” (Wisdom) Sartaine. As a young girl, she worked at the cheese factory in Bandon, Oregon. While raising her family, she kept the books for Limbaugh Trucking. After losing her husband Bud, she went to work for John’s Bakery making homemade soup and daily specials. After the closing of the bakery, Jo finished her career with Bi-Mart, where she made lifelong friendships, including her special friend Sylvia Muns.

Viola Gertrude Perkins, 95, a longtime resident of Muddy Creek and Haines, died Sept. 7, 2021, at Settler’s Park in Baker City. A graveside service will take place Friday, Sept. 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the Haines Cemetery with Cliff Cole presiding. Laura Watson

Laura Mae Watson, 72, of Baker City, died Sept. 11, 2021, at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise after a long battle with health issues. Laura was born on Sept. 12, 1948, at Klamath Falls to William Francis “Frank” Watson and Alpha Watson. Laura grew up in a large, loving family. She had six siblings and had a strong bond with each of them. As a young child, her family, children included, would travel to work in cotton orchards.
