An antique tractor part dealer is being cited for illegally burning old tractor tires. Jerry Everitt from Strawberry Point has been illegally burning tires on his land up until someone reported him in March, says an article in Iowa Capital Dispatch. An investigator from the DNR told Iowa Capital Dispatch that Everitt seemed to not know that you are not supposed to be burning tires.

Donald P. “Don” Mullikin, 79, passed away at home Thursday morning, May 12, 2022. He was born Aug. 2, 1942, in Prairie du Chien, to the late Joseph L. and Lorraine E. (Lang) Mullikin. On July 20, 1979, Don married Kathy Dutcher in Janesville. He worked for GM for 35 years, retiring in 1999. Don was a member of the UAW Local 95, and Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed volunteering with the Edgerton Lions Club and he loved hunting, camping, fishing, playing darts, cooking, and attending meat raffles. Other things he enjoyed were going on cruises and being an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and New York Yankees. Don really made sure he found time to spend with his family.

(Photo by Andrea Errthum/Iowa DNR) A Strawberry Point man who strips antique tractors for parts to resell had been illegally burning the tires from the tractors until March, when someone reported a fire on his property north of town, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

It's open season on The Field of Dreams. Another huge project that would drastically change the popular Iowa tourist spot forever is in the works. This time it is a $50 million permanent stadium that would be built around the field that Major League Baseball built for the first professional game held there last year, according to the Des Moines Register.

A public hearing will be held later this month on a proposed hog building just west of Dyersville. Delaware County has received a construction permit application for a confined feeding operation from Wessels Farm Operations LLC, owned and operated by Gary Wessels. They’re proposing to build a new 4,200 head deep-pit swine finisher confinement building at an existing swine confinement facility in Section 35 of Bremen Township.

FENNIMORE, Wis. — An area health center this week announced plans to build a family practice clinic in Fennimore. Grant Regional Health Center will break ground this summer on the 8,000-square-foot clinic at 1525 LaFolette St., next to Fennimore Smiles and across from the Southwest Wisconsin Technical College campus, according to a press release.

Thursday night on KWAY Country the Waverly-Shell Rock boys soccer team lost a heart-breaker to Postville 3-2. The Go-Hawks were up 2-0 going into halftime when Postville scored with seconds left to make it 2-1 at halftime. With 7 seconds left in regulation Postville’s Norvin Guerra was given a penalty kick which he used to tie the game and then four minutes into overtime Guerra scored the golden goal. The Go-Hawks’ goals cam from Derek Bienemann and Ryan Lindner.

As the season comes to a close softball teams are gearing up for a run at state. Down in Boscobel, they’re looking to make it to state for the first time in school history, and the entire community has hope because of a certain pitcher. ***. What does greatness...
