PRESCOTT, Ariz. — A wildfire in a remote area of Mohave County sent a plume of smoke that can be seen for miles. The Steamboat Fire is burning about 19 miles east of the small community of Wikieup. It was sparked by lightning and has burned at least 788 acres of land as of Tuesday, according to Arizona State Forestry.

The woman’s son had initially called police on June 9 after his mother had not returned from a shopping trip on June 8, police said.

MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- Department of Public Safety Troopers say they found “Bubba,” a dog that went missing in February after a rollover crash on the U.S. 93. DPS was called out to the area near milepost 148, south of Wikieup, on Feb. 13 after Bubba and his owners had been in a rollover accident. After the crash, Bubba went missing, and his owners put up flyers around the area with Bubba’s photos and contact information.

Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced a vacancy on the Bagdad Unified School District Governing Board, due to the resignation of Mrs. Kate Pierce, due to a pending move outside of the school district. The resignation is effective immediately. “Mrs. Pierce’s service to the school district is greatly appreciated”, Carter said.

MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. - A new wildfire is burning northwest of the Valley, and it caused the closure of the primary route between Phoenix and Las Vegas. The Arizona Department of Transportation says US 93 was closed in both directions between Interstate 40 and State Route 71 due to the fire at milepost 166. The northbound lanes were closed at SR-71 (milepost 183) and the southbound lanes were closed at I-40 (milepost 93).
