Former cop sentenced to life on kidnapping, other charges

Stan Livingston, a former law enforcement officer in Bacon and Jeff Davis counties, was convicted by a Bacon County jury on Wednesday, April 28, 2022, for kidnapping, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment, battery (family violence), fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ian Sansot and Judge Dwayne Gillis presided over the proceedings.

Vidalia Beats Bacon County on Senior Night

The Vidalia Indian Senior baseball players were recognized at the last regular season home game Thursday as they hosted the Bacon County Raiders. All ten seniors were able to start and play by using the DH rule. The Indians won by run rule 12-2 in five innings to go 14-0 in region play. The Indians will travel to Alma on Friday to play the Raiders in the final game of the regular season. The Indians will host the first round of the state playoff next week with opponent and time to be determined.

Bulldogs Win Region Soccer Title

On Monday night, the Toombs County Bulldogs Soccer team traveled to Bacon County to play their last region match of the season. The Bulldogs won 2-1 in dramatic fashion on Gustavo Deldago's 2nd goal of the night. This goal came with 20 seconds left in the 2nd overtime period. This win pushed the Bulldogs Region record to 10-2, good enough for 1st place in Region 2AA.

Billy Joe Carter, age 69, of Baxley passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 in the Bacon County Hospital. Mr. Carter was born July 9, 1952 in Bacon County to the late Dewitt Carter and the late Lucille Nail Carter. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was the Assistant Manager at Ace Hardware for more than 30 years. Katie Merritt sets CHS record in 1600 meters at Bacon County dual meet

Junior Kate Merritt set a new school record in the 1600m run with a time of 5:27.91 when the Coffee Trojans faced Bacon County in a dual meet. Merritt eclipsed the previous record set by Abbey Arnett, who is now a member of the Georgia Southern University track and cross country teams.
