Broxton man leads Bacon County deputies on chase after domestic dispute, arrested following crash

A Broxton man was arrested on serious charges, including aggravated assault, in Bacon County after a chase ended in a crash on U.S. 1 North. According to a post on the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Friday night, deputies responded to a domestic dispute on the side of Highway 32 West in Bacon County. Just before the deputies arrived, one subject, Elishia Phillip Chandler, 27, of Broxton, fled the scene. When deputies arrived, they found the other party lying on the side of the road unconscious.

Driver flees traffic stop, loses life in high speed accident

A one-vehicle accident that took place on Tuesday night claimed the life of a former Coffee High football star. According to officials, a Broxton police officer initiated a traffic stop Tuesday night. Tywone “Squirm” Brewton, 22, was driving the Infiniti G3 with a passenger inside. The officer detected a smell of marijuana during the stop. The passenger, whose name has not been released, jumped out of the car and fled. The officer chased the passenger for a short distance before stopping. While the officer was chasing the passenger, Brewton, whom the officer discovered had active warrants, left the scene.

Police warn about THC ‘candy’

A recent rash of medical grade THC products has landed three people behind bars. According to Homerville Police Department Captain Derrek Manning, during the past six months, the HPD has been working closely with the Clinch County Sheriff’s Office in investigating several distributors of narcotics in Clinch County. During the initial investigation, detectives were able to obtain recorded narcotics purchases from several individuals, which led to the arrests. The three that were arrested are: Lazarus B. Rucker, a.k.a. Memphis, 29, of a Homerville address, who was arrested and charged with two counts of the sale of methamphetamine, two counts of the sale of methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a school, one count of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, and one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; Terri Lynn McCain, 42, of a Homerville address, who was arrested and charged with one count of use of a communication device to facilitate a drug transaction, and one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; and Javavaier Deshawn Lacey, 25, of a Homerville address, was arrested and charged with two counts of the sale of marijuana, two counts of the use of a communications device to facilitate a drug transaction, one count of marijuana within 1000 feet of a school, and one count of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
