Aurora Police Chief Keith Cross announces command staff appointments

Aurora Police Chief Keith Cross has appointed two new commanders to join the police department’s Command Staff. Liz Robinson-Chan was appointed to the rank of Commander and will oversee the department’s Bureau of Support Services, a multifaceted bureau with numerous divisions and units that work to support the overall mission of the Aurora Police Department. The bureau includes the 911 Telecommunications, Records, Administrative Services, Central Services, Jail Divisions, along with other support units.

Aurora Police investigating single vehicle fatal accident on city’s east side

The Aurora Police Department is investigating a single vehicle crash on the city’s east side that left a woman dead Monday evening. Just before 4:15 p.m., the Aurora Police Department and Aurora Fire Department were dispatched to the 2100 block of Walcott Drive for a vehicle that has crashed into a tree. When officers arrived, they found the driver unconscious and not breathing, and immediately began CPR. Aurora Fire Department paramedics arrived moments later and took over life-saving measures. Paramedics transported the woman to an Aurora-area hospital where she was unfortunately pronounced dead.

Aurora Police arrest two people for 2021 murder on city's east side

The Aurora Police Department has arrested two people for the murder of a 37-year-old on the city’s east side in December 2021. Just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, December 18th, Aurora’s 911 Telecommunications Center received reports of a man down in the 400 block of Clark Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Aurora Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene and transported the male to Rush Copley Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased after 9 a.m.

Aurora Police investigating shooting that left one man injured

Aurora Police are investigating a shooting that left one man injured on the city’s east side Wednesday evening. Just before 6:30 p.m., Aurora’s 911 Telecommunications Center received reports of a person shot and a vehicle crash in the 1000 block of Dearborn Avenue. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a male adult suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Aurora Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene and transported the male to a local hospital. The man is expected to survive.

Aurora Launches Free Snow Removal Program for Senior Citizens, Residents with Disabilities

Operation Senior Shovel is a free program that pairs Aurora residents with disabilities and senior citizens with volunteers who will provide shoveling services. Operation Senior Shovel is open to 150 Aurora residents who are at least 60 years of age or residents who have disabilities or serious medical conditions that prohibit them from shoveling snow. In addition, qualifying households cannot have other adults under the age of 60 years old and physically capable of removing snow.
