Blackfoot provides updates on future businesses

BHS Class of 1967 to celebrate 55-year reunion

BLACKFOOT -- The Blackfoot High School class of 1967 will be celebrating their 55-year class reunion on July 9, according to a press release. The reunion will be held at the Shoshone-Bannock Casino and Hotel starting at 5 p.m. The first event will be a Meet-n-Greet social. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and a special program will start at 7 p.m.

Sewer, water fees public hearing moved to end of summer or early fall

BLACKFOOT — The City of Blackfoot is proposing an increase in sewer and water fees in order to repair and replace old infrastructure, update the water system and hire specialists to manage that system. In addition to already proposed increased fees, the increased rate will amount to around 17% over a three-year period.

Blackfoot park bathrooms will be locked overnight after vandals destroy toilet, deface stalls

BLACKFOOT — Spray paint vandalism and the destruction of a toilet have caused the city of Blackfoot to lock up public city park bathrooms during the night. “The spray paint, the markers, or pushing stuff over or leaving debris in the bathrooms has been pretty common. But the breaking of the toilet and ripping the stall walls down and different things like that —- that’s a new level right there,” said Greg Austin, public information officer for the city of Blackfoot.

Idaho State Police is investigating a vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 8:23 p.m., on June 23, 2022 at the intersection of S 1050 W and SH39 in Bingham County. A 22-year-old man from Blackfoot was driving a 2017 Ford F350 eastbound on SH39. He failed to yield to stopped traffic ahead and struck a 1982 Honda motorcycle, driven by a 24-year-old man from Blackfoot. The Ford traveled further east and struck a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica, driven by an 18-year-old man from Blackfoot, and as well as a 2015 Ram 2500 pulling a 1999 Circle J Trailer, driven by a 65-year-old woman, from Aberdeen.

Levy rates expected to decrease as home values rise

With home values rising, driving up the property tax citizens pay on their residences, city levy rates are expected to decrease to compensate for that rise.
