Murphy taps new prosecutors in Atlantic, Burlington

Gov. Phil Murphy has nominated new prosecutors in Atlantic and Burlington counties and said he would renominate Jennifer Webb-McRae as the Cumberland County prosecutor. LaChia Bradshaw was named to replace Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina, a Christie administration holdover, and William Reynolds was picked to become the new prosecutor in Atlantic.

Shooter is arrested

HAMMONTON—Steven Berenato, 43, of Hammonton was arrested at 7:14 p.m. on May 6 by the Hammonton Police Department, who along with officers from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office affected a search warrant on a residence in the 600 block of 11th Street in reference to the shooting that took place on the 200 block of Peach Street on April 30, Hammonton Police Chief Kevin Friel said. Berenato was picked up as the accused in the shooting, Friel said.

NJ hospital safety grades are out: Could your hospital do better?

A new survey has just been released that assigns letter grades to every hospital in the Garden State. Tyla Minniear, the chief operating officer for the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute, said the Spring 2022 Leapfrog Group Hospital Safety survey lists hospitals with a top safety rating, but it also includes 19 that received a grade of “C” and 4 hospitals received a “D”.
