The Arkansas City, Ks. Police Department responded to a call on Friday involving an Arkansas City man that was considered to be armed and dangerous. Christopher Logan Strychalski, 29, was arrested in the Ponca City McDonald’s parking lot at around 6:30 p.m. Friday on suspicion of aggravated battery, criminal threat and discharge of a firearm into an occupied residence.

BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) - A man in Butler County was transported to a Wichita hospital with serious injuries after he was shot in the chest Monday evening. The shooting happened shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of SW Anemone Road, near SW 146th and Butler Road. A supervisor with the Butler County dispatch confirms a man in his 50s got into a fight with someone and was shot in the chest.

Augusta man indicted on child sex crimes

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A federal grand jury indicted an Augusta man on four total counts involving child sex crimes. The jury indicted 25-year-old Truman Gentry on two counts of production of child pornography, one count of advertising for production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Frank Eugene Wartick

Frank Eugene Wartick, 91, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord, on June 13, 2021 at LakePoint Nursing Home in El Dorado, KS, two days prior to his 92nd birthday. Frank was born June 15, 1929, the only son to Archie and Ella Mae (Martin) Wartick, and lived on a farm south of El Dorado. He graduated from Leon High School in 1947. On June 26, 1950, he married the love of his life, Opal Irene (McGavock) Wartick. They were married 70 years. Frank truly loved his wife and was the most devoted caregiver after Opal’s stroke in 2010. Together they raised four children. Frank worked at Skelly Refinery as a machinist for 39 years from June 21, 1950 to June 30, 1989. He took early retirement at age 60, which he stated “was the best thing he ever done”. Frank and Opal enjoyed traveling and bus trips. They had seen almost every state in the USA. Besides traveling, Frank enjoyed gardening, woodworking, garage sales and collecting coins. Spending time with his family was important to him, whether celebrating birthdays, barbeques, watching grandchildren’s music programs and their sporting events. He loved his family dearly. He also loved Jesus and the fellowship of the church. Because of his strong faith, we have the Hope through Christ Jesus that we will see him again. John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Ark City man facing multiple charges

The Arkansas City Police Department responded to a call on Friday involving an Arkansas City man who was considered an armed and dangerous suspect. Christopher Logan Strychalski, 29, of Arkansas City, later was arrested in Oklahoma on suspicion of aggravated battery, criminal threat and discharge of a firearm into an occupied residence. An Arkansas City female came to the Arkansas City Police Department to report an incident of domestic violence that resulted in her allegedly being strangled and beaten. While this report was being made, another resident called in a suspicious person at a residence where the female victim had family residing. This neighbor reported that a suspicious male suspect had discharged a rifle that he was carrying. A rifle bullet casing later was recovered at the scene. Police later arrested that suspect, identified as Strychalski.
