Braves have… Money?! BRAVES HAVE MONEY!!! Shopping in the AL AisLe

In an interview with Jeff Schultz via The Athletic, Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos dropped a nice surprise on fans as he said that the team has financially benefitted from being back open at full capacity and ownership has given him the green light to add to the team’s payroll should a real need arise. Luckily for Anthopoulos, there are plenty of needs and the Braves could be adding in all facets of the team. Hopefully the Braves will be recouping some of Marcell Ozuna’s 2021 salary (and beyond), there could be more than we realize.

Braves Bludgeon Cardinals 9-1

Well, I’m never going to complain about that. The Atlanta Braves dominated the St. Louis Cardinals at Truist Park, winning 9-1 in the second game of the four-game series. In some ways, it’s very comforting. In a lot of ways, the Cardinals are the closest thing to the Braves in...

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Big day fuels big win

Albies went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and three RBI in Friday's 9-1 win over the Cardinals. His two-run shot off Carlos Martinez in the second inning broke the game open for Atlanta and gave Albies his 10th homer of the year. The second baseman hadn't gone yard since May 22, but he's still been plenty productive in the meantime, slashing .310/.376/.512 in his last 21 games with four steals, 14 runs and 19 RBI in addition to Friday's blast.

Braves, Drew Smyly look to clinch series win over Cardinals

Drew Smyly will take the mound for Atlanta on Saturday, as the Braves look to extend their winning “streak” to three and keep the embers of their playoff hopes alive. Smyly has had a very rough reason, due in no small part to an inexplicable insistence to have him face the third time through the order, despite there being a solid sample of him struggling deeply the third time around. This tale is displayed quite clearly by his ERA splits, as his ERA the first time through the order is a solid 4.13. The second time through the order, it increases to 5.

Charlie Morton evens John Smoltz in Braves record books

Charlie Morton’s no-hit bid fell short, but with a near-flawless outing, he joined a Braves Hall of Famer in the team record books. Morton carried a no-hit big into the seventh inning, and gave up just three hits before he was removed in the eighth. It’s the kind of outing the Braves have been missing from anyone on their pitching staff minus Max Fried and Ian Anderson this season.
