I have to say, joining the Rally C.A.P. – Champion and Protect Local Business Facebook group last year was a GREAT decision. I'm constantly finding out about both new restaurants and old restaurants that I've never been to before. Just last week, I was introduced to Old Neighborhood Pub here in Cedar Rapids, and it's all thanks to a post about their tacos.

Father, son charged with storming Capitol during Jan. 6 riot

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — The FBI has arrested an Iowa man and his adult son after they discussed on social media their involvement in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Agents arrested 50-year-old Daryl Johnson of St. Ansgar and 29-year-old Daniel Johnson of Austin, Minnesota, on Friday morning. They made initial appearances in federal courts in Iowa and Minnesota and have been released from custody pending further proceedings in Washington, D.C. They are charged with entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct, violent entry, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.

Popular Coralville Hotel to Change Names and Management

Posh accommodations will continue with a change in its look at a popular hotel for Kinnick Stadium gameday fans to stay at on football weekends, basketball overnights and more. According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, on August 18, just in time for the start of the first post-COVID football season, the 57,588 square-foot city-owned Marriott hotel and convention center will transform into the "Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel and Conference Center", owned by Marcus Hotels & Resorts.

An Iowa City man who was wanted for allegedly assaulting a man with a baseball bat last year was arrested Sunday evening.
