Foster Over the 4th Program for Pets at the Animal Services Adoption Center

Animal Services is seeking residents for the Foster Over the 4th program to shelter pets in need from the Adoption Center over the holiday weekend. Pick-ups and drop-offs are by appointment only. Foster pick-ups will take place on Thursday, June 30 or Friday, July 1, with pets returning for drop-off on Tuesday, July 5 or Wednesday, July 6. Animal Services is closed on Monday, July 4.

2022 Athens Music Walk of Fame Inductees Announced

In 2020, the first ten inductees of the Athens Music Walk of Fame were installed in a two-square-block area in downtown Athens bounded by Pulaski Street, West Washington Street, North Lumpkin Street, and West Clayton Street with five more artists added in 2021. The walk passes several renowned music venues in western downtown, including the Morton Theatre, the 40 Watt Club, and the Georgia Theatre. In continuation of recognition of the artists who have helped make Athens a destination for music fans, the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission (ACAC) and the Athens Music Walk of Fame Committee announce the five inductees of the Athens Music Walk of Fame for 2022: Bloodkin, Tituss Burgess, The Glands, Ishues, and Love Tractor.

ACCGov Accepting Affordable Housing Proposals Through July 29

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) is accepting proposals from non-profit organizations or businesses for funding associated with new affordable housing construction, major/minor rehabilitation assisting lower-income households, and affordable housing assistance programs that support new affordable housing construction and/or major/minor rehabilitation assisting lower-income households. Selected proposals will be funded through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF). The Mayor & Commission have designated up to $5.27 million of ARPA SLFRF funds toward this request for proposals.
