Fort Yargo State Park | Park History And A 7 Mile Hike | Georgia State Parks

Video Cover
Fort Yargo State Park is a beautiful state park located between Atlanta and Athens, Georgia in Winder, Georgia. The park opened in 1954 and is named after Fort Yargo which can be found across from the Visitors Center. This was one of the four forts built in the area by the Humphries brothers to protect early settlers from the Indians. This park is full of some neat history and has many recreational activities and accommodations. This is a great place to hike, bike, kayak, canoe, play disc golf, and more. We did the Lake Loop Trail and it was beautiful. ONE DAY In Athens, GA | FOOD, Downtown, and Botanical Garden

Video Cover
We spent one day in Athens, GA, the home of R.E.M., the B-52s, and the University of Georgia. We found our way around the city via a food tour and bulldog hunt! At our first stop, we built our own donuts with gummy worms and fruity pebbles. Then we burned some calories hunting for bulldogs - spoiler alert: we didn’t find too many. The culinary tour continues with lunch at a local vegetarian spot, followed by a stop at the spot where Michael Stipe and Peter Buck of R.E.M. first met and a sweet afternoon treat. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the beautiful botanical gardens before ending our day with dinner: tacos and empanadas! | For more, follow our adventures in real time on Instagram stories: https://www.instagram.com/stephenandandie 📸
