Wisconsin man who was convicted of killing two people in 1976 dies in prison

A man serving two life terms for killing a Wisconsin couple in a slaying that went unsolved for decades has died in prison, state corrections officials confirmed. Raymand Vannieuwenhoven, 85, was convicted last year of fatally shooting 25-year-old David Schuldes and 24-year-old Ellen Matheys in a Marinette County park on July 9, 1976, in Silver Cliff, about 200 miles (320 kilometers) north of Milwaukee.

Bear breaks into Wisconsin vacation home while family sleeps

June 22 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin conservation warden was summoned to a vacation home where a black bear broke in through an open window while a family slept. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Conservation Warden Tim Werner was summoned to the vacation home near Crivitz when a family from Illinois awoke to find a bear had entered through a kitchen window.

National Weather Service survey teams confirmed four tornados in Marinette County from the June 15 storm

At 6:34 P.M. last Wednesday, an EF-1 tornado touched down in Middle Inlet and stayed on the ground for eight minutes, covering six-and-a-half miles. That tornado resulted in structural damage to barns and roof damage to at least one home. EF-1 tornados also hit northwest of Amberg, and three miles northeast of Kremlin, which is east-northeast of Pembine. An EF-2 tornado damaged hundreds of tree and some structures, including the fire station, at Silver Cliff. A home was lifted off its foundation there. A total of 8 tornadoes were reported in Northeast Wisconsin and 11 statewide.
