Rock Port Teen Airlifted To Hospital Following UTV Accident

A Rock Port teen was seriously injured after a UTV crash Saturday afternoon in Atchison County. The 13 year old male from Rock Port was northbound on 245th Street, 2 1/2 miles south of Rock Port, when he began to slide. The driver continued off the roadway and overturned. His 13 year old male passenger was ejected and airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Omaha. Neither occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Atchison County youth hurt in ATV accident

(Rock Port) -- A young passenger was injured in a weekend ATV accident in Atchison County. The Atchison County Sheriff's Office says the accident occurred Saturday afternoon on 245th Street, approximately two-and-a-half miles south of Rock Port. Authorities say a 2020 Polaris Ranger 1000 driven by a 13-year-old male juvenile from Rock Port was northbound when it slid off the west side of the roadway and overturned. The vehicle's right passenger--another 13-year-old male from Rock Port--was ejected before the ATV came to rest on its wheels facing south off the west side of the road.

A local man is lucky to be alive after his truck crashed into a body of water on Hwy. 136 two miles west of Rock Port, Missouri, at 10 p.m. October 14, 2021. A 1995 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Denny E. Porter, 65, of Rock Port was headed eastbound on Hwy. 136 when the pickup traveled off the south side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, went down an embankment and was submerged and came to rest in water. Porter, who was wearing a seat belt, exited the vehicle prior to it being submerged.

(Rock Port) -- One person was injured when an SUV collided with a deer in Atchison County early Sunday evening. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on northbound I-29 near Rock Port at around 7:20 p.m. Authorities say a northbound 2014 Ford Explorer driven by 35-year-old Jose Jimenez of Omaha struck a deer in the passing lane. The vehicle came to a controlled stop in the median.

An early morning motorcycle accident Wednesday claimed the life of a 42-year-old Atchison County Corrections Officer. Jeremy S. Masuch, of Nortonville, was pronounced dead at the accident scene located at the junction of U.S. 59 Highway and Kansas Highway 116 about 10 miles south of Atchison along U.S. 59 Highway, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log report.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 2000 Buick driven by a 17-year-old male from Tarkio was northbound on Route O a mile northeast of Tarkio when it failed to make a left turn while entering a curve. The vehicle exited the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment and went airborne. After landing, the vehicle drove into another embankment before overturning and spinning end over end.
