Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Police had a busy twenty-four hours late this week. According to Sheldon Police Chief Scott Burtch, it all started shortly before 2:30 Thursday afternoon when they arrested 57-year-old Mark Muhlbauer on four counts of 5th Degree Theft. Less than 20 minutes later, they arrested 38-year-old Jonathon Koerselman on an O’Brien County Mittimus warrant. Then, about 4:20 Thursday afternoon, Burtch says his officers arrested 57-year-old Roy Persson on warrants from O’Brien County.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — One of the highlights of visiting Orange City is the rich dutch history throughout the community... including a dutch bakery gearing up for another jam-packed weekend with the Orange City Tulip Festival. I stopped by the bakery last week to see how they are preparing for their biggest days of the year.

An estimated 50,000 tulip bulbs are planted throughout the Orange City community each year, all of which are imported from Holland and planted all around. Although some bulbs are still closed, tulips are in the process of blooming and will be in full bloom by the end of this week according to festival officials.

ROCK RAPIDS—A 71-year-old Matlock woman was killed about 12:35 p.m. Thursday, May 12, in a head-on collision east of Rock Rapids. Carol Jo Fliear was driving east on Highway 9 when her 2016 Ford Taurus apparently crossed the centerline for an unknown reason and collided with a westbound 2007 Freightliner semi at the Indian Avenue intersection about three miles east of Rock Rapids, according to a preliminary report by the Iowa State Patrol.
