SCRANTON, Pa. — Scranton police were called to the city's west side Thursday afternoon after neighbors say they heard arguing and several gunshots. Scranton police said the incident happened around 1 p.m. A man complained that his dog was attacked by another dog, and he fired his gun to save his pet.

Uber driver charged with unlawful restraint of teen passenger

WILKES-BARRE — An Uber driver was arraigned Thursday on charges he failed to allow a teenage passenger to exit his vehicle after a crash on East Northampton Street. City police allege Cui Long, 51, of Butler Township, drove for 11 minutes after the passenger repeatedly asked to be let out following a crash at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

HANOVER TWP. — Nanticoke police refiled invasion of privacy charges against a Greater Nanticoke Area school director Thursday. Matthew Joseph Landmesser, 42, of 400 E. Union St., was charged April 5 after a woman claimed she found hidden cameras that recorded her daily activities in her bedroom, including being nude while changing clothes, according to court records.

Every can counts for Water Rescue and Recovery team

LEHIGHTON, Pa. — The Lehighton Fire Department is looking for help from the community, and you don't have to empty your pockets, just your recycling cans. "It's nothing we have done. We actually got the idea from the Aquashicola Fire Company here in the county. They have been doing it for 20 years," explained Rodney Rehnert, a firefighter and Water Rescue and Recovery team member. "Reached out to them. They were making about $2,000 on it a year, so we figured it would be a good fundraiser for us to start."
