Wisconsin football recruiting: in-state offensive lineman Barrett Nelson commits for the 2022 class

According to Evan Flood of 247 Sports, the Badgers have added a familiar name to their 2022 recruiting class. 3-star offensive lineman Barrett Nelson of Stoughton committed to the Badgers on Saturday during his official visit to Madison. Nelson followed his brother offensive lineman Jack Nelson — who is in his second-year with the program — and his father who also played for UW.

Alex Palou wins IndyCar race in Wisconsin

Palou takes IndyCar race at Road America: Alex Palou believed his car had enough speed to outduel Josef Newgarden in the final few laps at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. An unexpected mechanical issue for Newgarden made the task much easier. Palou sailed past Newgarden on a restart with two laps remaining to win Sunday's race and move back atop the IndyCar points standings. Palou won by 1.9106 seconds over Colton Herta of Andretti Autosport. Will Power was third, Scott Dixon fourth and Romain Grosjean fifth. The victory gives Palou a 28-point lead over Pato O'Ward, who finished ninth in Sunday's race. Palou entered the weekend trailing O'Ward by one point.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) -The Assumption Royals completed an underdog run to a sectional championship with a 2-0 win over #1 seed Regis/McDonell co-op on Saturday. The Royals made a statement with a goal from junior Kayla Kerkman in the first five minutes of the game, and fellow junior Clara Kubis added in a second goal for Assumption later in the half. It was all they needed in a thoroughly commanding performance.

Members of the Wisconsin Assembly are debating bills that would ban transgender athletes from taking part in girls’ and women’s sports. Opponents call the measures discriminatory and unnecessary. The five hours of debate scheduled by assembly leaders got underway Wednesday – right in the middle of gay pride month.
