RENO COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on drug allegations after a traffic stop. On June 29, the Hutchinson Police Department Special Operations Division with the assistance of the Reno County Drug Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing an alleged traffic violation, according to a media release.
HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KAKE) - Hutchinson police say they have arrested a 30-year-old Wichita man on drug and gun charges following a traffic stop on Wednesday. The department said its Special Operations Division and the Reno County Drug Unit pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation and searched it. Officers seized over 121 grams of meth, 55 grams of marijuana, 142 pills and a handgun.
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Wichita man has been arrested on potential drug and weapons charges in Hutchinson. Hutchinson Police report that 30-year-old Matthew Demoura is jailed on suspicion of possession of meth, oxycodone and marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Xanax and criminal possession of a firearm.

YODER, Kan. — A weeklong training seminar of the Kansas Police Administrators wrapped up Friday at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) near Yoder. The seminar was a partnership between KLETC and the Kansas Associations of Chiefs of Police (KACP) and is designed for new chiefs and law enforcement administrators plus senior officers and supervisors who are preparing themselves for a chief or other upper-level police administrative positions.
NICKERSON, Kan. — The report of an armed subject led officials to place Nickerson Elementary School into lockdown Wednesday morning. According to Steve Lutz of the Reno County Sheriff's Department, the family of Kristopher Gobble phoned law enforcement after they had an altercation with him. Because his known address was near the school, law enforcement asked that the building be placed in lockdown. Summer school was in session at the time.
SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of South Hutchinson has released information about parking and viewing areas for the fireworks show on July 2. Parking is permitted in the yellow areas as well as the nearby side streets so long as they are not marked as a "no parking" zone. Viewing areas are the green shaded or green outline areas. Though not marked, this includes the perimeter area around the ball fields.

CHENEY, Kan. — It is expected to be a very busy weekend at Cheney State Park with an extended Independence Day holiday. The park says all campsites are full, although there is quite a bit of primitive camping still available on a walk up basis. SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Work is scheduled to begin on the Scott Boulevard bridge in South Hutchinson in the coming weeks. According to Don Brittain with Reno County Public Works, contractors will close Scott Boulevard some time around Friday, July 8, and begin removing the existing structure Monday, July 11, if all goes as planned.
