Power line proposal draws objections from landowners

MARSHALL — Neighbors of a power line that runs along part of Lyon County Road 8 voiced objections to a plan to rebuild the line closer to their property. Members of the Lyon County Board heard from both East River Electric and Lyon County resident Scott Josephson on Tuesday when the energy cooperative sought a conditional use permit for a 69-kilovolt transmission line in part of Nordland Township.

Getting through a year of challenges

MARSHALL — The past year was an unpredictable one for many industries, as the COVID-19 pandemic affected everything from food supplies to transportation and labor. Dairy farmers in southwest Minnesota have also had to deal with challenges, although they may not have been hit as hard as dairies in other parts of the country.

Flandreau 14U Scores 11 in Fifth Inning To Win 15-1 Against Elkton

Flandreau 14U allowed one hit and one run in a 15-1 stomping of Elkton. Xavier Bien had two hits and two RBIs, and Paul Parsley drove in two in the win. Flandreau scored 11 of their 15 runs in the fifth inning. Elkton’s pitching staff issued 10 walks to Flandreau’s hitters. Flandreau has a week off and will visit Beaver Creek Blue in Hills, MN on Tuesday, June 22.
