Man Plead Guilty To Threatening Federal Officials

One was Dr. Anthony Fauci. Greenbelt, Md. (KM) – A plea was entered on Monday by a Snowshoe, West Virginia man for making threats against Dr. Anthony Fauci and other federal officials. Thomas Patrick Connally, 56, pleaded guilty to making threats against Dr. Fauci, the current director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. He also entered guilty pleas for threatening Dr. Francis Collins, the former director of the National Institutes of Health, and Dr. Rachel Levine, currently an Assistant Secretary of Health for the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Mercy Health commits $30,000 for Whitmer students

Student admission will be free of charge to attend Whitmer High School home sporting events starting next school year, thanks to a $30,000 commitment from Mercy Health. Mercy officials announced the partnership with Washington Local Schools on Wednesday as part of an effort to boost student engagement with the district and to offer a safe environment for Whitmer High School students outside of the classroom throughout the 2022-23 school year.

Highland Telephone Cooperative’s Annual Meeting

On May 6, Highland Telephone Cooperative held it’s annual meeting in Monterey. General Manager Chad Kimble presented information on the fiberoptic network project that’s underway. In 2021, HTC invested a little over $1.5 millon in the Mill Gap area providing the service. Kimble said converting customers to the fiberoptic network has made a difference in reliability of service. In 2022, HTC is focusing on installing fiber in the Hightown and Allegheny areas. Kimble called the Allegheny area the most challenging in order to reach everyone and the area only has seventeen customers. In 2023, fiber installation is planned in areas east of Monterey, McDowell and Strait Creek, and when that is completed, Highland will be 100% fiber to the home.
