I must admit that letter to the editor about Dominic Saraceno’s ethnicity got my Irish up (even though my grandparents were Italian, and I am American). Mr. Saraceno’s response stated that he changed his name in the wake of the panic caused by the 9/11 bombings, in order to relieve the severe bigotry which was damaging his professional law practice because of his Syrian name.

New playground to be installed at Garden Avenue in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino announced Monday that a new playground will be coming soon to the Cataract City. The new playground will be installed at 1031 Garden Avenue in Niagara Falls. In preparation for the project, the City of Niagara Falls says the Department of Public Works has cleared the area of overgrown trees and bushes, and pavement removal has begun.

Aaron Mossell Junior High made official

LOCKPORT — North Park Junior High School will be renamed Aaron Mossell Junior High School as soon as the State Education Department processes the change. In the meantime, Deborah Coder, assistant superintendent for finance and management services, said the district will move forward in implementing steps to reflect the name change on the buildings and letterhead for official paperwork.
