'Stop the violence' event held in Waterbury to connect community

WATERBURY, Conn. — Waterbury community members gathered at Lakewood Park for a 'Stop the Violence' event Sunday. "I’m from here. I used to get in trouble a lot myself and I feel like our community needs it. We want our kids to grow up in a safe place and that’s what I’m trying to do," organizer Billy Anderson said. "I think we can clean it up and I think I'm one of the people that can do that."

Naugatuck Man Sentenced For Distributing Heroin

A Connecticut man will spend more than two years in prison after being sentenced for distributing heroin, federal officials announced. New Haven County resident Adam Mines, age 38, of Naugatuck, has been sentenced to 33 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release after pleading guilty in December 2021 to one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin.

WATERBURY — Probate Judge Peter Mariano was sentenced to one year in jail but served just four days for three drunken-driving charges and driving with a suspended license.
