Etowah County Circuit Judge Sonny Steen handed down the harshest sentence available for a man convicted in the November 2016 death of a Rainbow City man. A jury in April, after a four-day trial, found Hunter Bellew guilty of capital murder in the death of Tony McCartney. Bellew was accused of breaking into McCartney's home and shooting him as he lay in bed, then taking guns and a truck from McCartney's property.

Anniston, AL – Despite incorrect reports of Brain Barker being found this unfortunately untrue. Per his father, Jeremiah Barker, Brian was last seen in a hospital in Chattanooga, TN. He was reported as safe, but left the hospital and is still missing. The hospital he was seen at was Chattanooga Memorial Hospital. As a reminder Brian is on the Autism spectrum and hasn’t had his medication in over a week. There were 93 criminal incident/offense reports taken. There were 46 miscellaneous (minor) incident reports taken. There were eight felony arrests. There were 24 misdemeanor arrests. There were 12 traffic accidents, 140 traffic stops, and 41 traffic citations. 22 warrants were served. There were five animals picked up and no animal related citations issued. In the Street Crime division there was one felony arrest, no misdemeanor arrests, and two warrants served.
