Texas Residents Urged to Stay Indoors as Cops Hunt Armed Man With ‘Battle Belt’

Residents in a northeastern Texas city were urged to stay indoors late Saturday as police hunted for an armed man with a “battle belt.” Police in Haltom City swarmed the Diamond Oaks part of the city after reports of shots fired in the area. It was not immediately clear if anyone was wounded. The police department, in a statement posted to Facebook, said only that they were working an active crime scene in connection with an “armed suspect” with a rifle and a “battle belt.” “If seen, do not approach and call 911,” police warned residents. According to The Dallas Morning News, a police officer told residents gathered in the area near Denton Highway and Glenview Drive to “please leave” because there was “an active shooter in the area.” “He is armed. Please leave for your safety. Please leave. He’s shot multiple people already,” the unnamed officer was quoted saying. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram cited residents as saying they’d seen a police officer who had apparently been injured in an exchange of gunfire in the area.

Braum’s Is the Best American Fast-Food Chain You’ve Never Heard Of

There are few things about living in Dallas-Fort Worth that make me feel smug. It’s hot as hell here, there’s too much concrete, and the traffic is miserable. My city doesn’t boast the stunning natural beauty of San Francisco, or the hallowed cultural institutions of New York City. But it is, at least, home to a location of Braum’s, the best American fast-food chain that I’d wager most Americans have never heard of.
